Fabian Balsiger

Biomedical Engineer, Ph.D.

I am a postdoctoral researcher with a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering working in the field of magnetic resonance imaging and medical image computing with machine learning. My research focuses on developing quantitative magnetic resonance imaging for neuromuscular diseases. Specifically, I investigate the segmentation of peripheral nerves from multi-modal magnetic resonance neurography for morphometry in peripheral neuropathies and I develop new magnetic resonance fingerprinting acquisition and reconstruction methods for the quantitative diagnosis and monitoring of neuromuscular diseases. This interdisciplinary work encompasses medical science, computer science, and magnetic resonance physics. Besides research, I frequently enjoy cycling and running, I am interested in Swiss politics, like electronic music, and watching TV series. Please check out my social profiles for further details on my research, work experience, and employment history.
